Seven years after Sun Microsystems founded the project, OpenOffice.org plans on including the Lightning add-on for Thunderbird so that in addition to email support, users will also be able to manage their schedule and appointments with their New Personal Information Manager (definition on wikipedia)
So OpenOffice wants to compete with Microsoft's Outlook, CyberNet reported.
