Mozilla Firefox 3 - Bookmarks Offline Storage
Mozilla have given a sneek peak at the new version of Firefox 3. The newest and most exciting feature for me in this Alpha 5 release is the confirmation that “Places” will be stored locally using SQLite. Places is the new name/replacement for Firefox Bookmarks.
SQLite has certainly got on my radar as a hot technology to watch, following the announcement from Google that Gears will use SQLite to enable offline storage for applications such as Google Reader and hopefully GMail soon.
Mozilla will host a new open source project, called Tamarin, to accelerate the development of this standards-based approach for creating rich and engaging Web applications.
